These are the moments that moved me -- and still do.

Ten years ago, I was on a photography trip in my home country of Venezuela. It was by chance there, on the streets of a lovely beach town called Todasana, that I met a 7-year-old boy who quickly stole my heart while we happily took pictures together.

Here is my favorite one. The subject became the director, as he instructed me, “I will look through this brick and you can take photo from the other side.”

I felt a special connection to this child -- an immediate friendship that felt powerful and timeless, even if our time together was lighthearted and brief.
As fate would have it, a decade after saying goodbye, he found me through social media. He was reminiscing about his childhood and actually discovered the exact same picture of himself looking through the brick.

His name is Jean Carlos and today he lives in Paris, working as a model and photographer!
I truly believe our shared experience in Todasana so many years ago influenced each other's deep connection to photography that exists today -- photos from the other side indeed!
